High-minded study becomes inspired
On top of Blue Grass Pavilion Tower;
A fishing boat is moored
In a pool of green sea-rushes.
As the sun descends, I stroll
Inside the thick bamboo grove;
When the moon is bright, I stand
On the small rustic bridge.
I taste the new wine
Till it makes me thoroughly tipsy;
I leave the central gate,
At once begin to enjoy myself.
Strains of a sad, familiar song
Launch me on the theme of old age;
White hair blown by the soughing breeze
Makes autumnal music.
